If you happen to have a Dell B2360dn laser printer and it keeps giving you an error message to “Reinstall missing or unresponsive cartridge [31.xx] or “Reinstall missing or unresponsive imaging unit” even after you replaced the toner or the drum, don’t give up on your printer yet. Try these steps first to possibly remedy this problem, which might be caused by a bent sensor on the inside of your printer.
- Turn printer off and unplug it
- Open up the front cover
- Locate a sensor on the right side inside your printer
- You should see 4 sensors stacked on top of each other
- All the sensors should be in line
- If one of the sensors is bent, you can use a tool to re-bend it back to be in line with all the other sensor
Also, you might want to restart your printer with default settings. In order to do so, just following these steps:
- With power on, unplug from back of printer
- Wait 15 seconds
- Hold down OK and Right Triangle buttons
- Put power cable back in. Keep holding until you see a progress indicator
