When transferring a chip from your empty cartridge to another one without a chip, be careful not to scratch the upper facing area of the chip, as it might not work if damaged. You can cut the plastic or the glue around the chip, but it’s best if your tools don’t touch the top “gold” part. You can handle the chip with plastic tweezers, clean hands, or in a way that will not scratch it.
Also, make sure to to insert the chip the correct way – it is advised to place your toners side by side to assure correct transfer. If a chip is inserted upside down, it will not work in your printer.
Furthermore, if transferring chips from color cartridges, make sure to place a chip from a color cartridge into the right corresponding color cartridge (cyan to cyan, magenta to magenta, yellow to yellow, black to black).
Glued cartridge chips might not be removable.
If you are reusing chips, your toner reader will be disabled and your cartridge will read as empty. You can ignore/snooze the message and continue to print until you run out of toner completely. If you need to know the accurate toner levels in your printer, genuine original brand cartridges might be the best solution for you.
