So you replaced your cartridge(s) with brand new one(s) and now some or all the colors are printing blank. The first thing you should do is verify that your ink cartridges are installed properly. If they are and your printer is still printing blank, your printer might have clogged nozzles in your print head, so you will need to run a cleaning cycle. Here are the steps you can take to perform the cleaning:
1. Press menu
2. Press the up and down arrow key or the dial pad to choose ink or ink management and press OK
3. Press the up and down arrow key or the dial pad to choose Test Print and press OK
4. Press the up and down arrow key or the dial pad to choose Print Quality and press OK
5. Press color start. The machine will print the quality check sheet.
6. Check the quality of four color blocks on the sheet.
7. The LCD will ask you if the print quality is OK
Do one of the following:
If all lines are clear and visible, choose YES to finish the print quality check and go to step 13
If you can see missing short lines, choose NO and go to step 8
The LCD asks you if the printe is ok, so choose YES or NO.
The LCD asks you if you would like to perform cleaning, press YES. The machine starts cleaning the print head.
After it’s done cleaning , press Color start. The machine will start printing another quality check sheet.
Check the quality of all four colors printed. If all lines are visible, choose YES. If the quality is poor, choose NO. If quality continues to be poor, you should do cleaning up to 5 times before contacting Brother direct.
Note that cleaning your print head consumes the ink. Cleaning the print head often will waste your ink.
